Important Message
I have constructed
four new swims on the Horseshoe, as from March 2009, the original
pegs 1, 4, 5 & 6 will be closed for a season, and the new pegs
will be open for the season.
These swims will
be alternated on a yearly basis. The two reasons for this are:
- To get fish moving
around the lake more, and feeding more. At present, they are holding
up in certain areas and this will disrupt them.
- For any anglers
who have fished Horseshoe regularly, these new swims will create a
completely different perspective to their fishing. It will feel like
fishing a different lake.

For a trial period
through 2009, I am allowing the use of bait boats on the Horseshoe.
Should you wish to use this facility, a £5 per day fee is required.
Discounts will be available to those staying for longer periods. As
stated, this is for a trial period, and should anybody abuse the use
of the bait boat, they will not only be removed from site without
haste, the facility will also be revoked.

Also, great news
for specimen anglers with Lakemore's Golden Lake now producing cats
to 28lb, I have decided to use the Golden Lake next year as a more
specimen-orientated water. I intend to stock a few more cats into
Golden with the 40 already present, which will make it a superb starter
lake for anybody wishing to catch their first catfish. As such, general
day tickets and 24 hour tickets will be available, with the emphasis
on Golden Lake being a specimen lake. I intend to keep all present
stock of roach, rudd, bream and carp in Golden Lake, thus keeping
it a cracking little water for any pleasure angler as well.

Great news! Lakemore
has a new record catfish, at a huge 75lb 6oz, the fish has taken lakemore
to another level, it's not only a Lakemore record but a Cheshire record
too, and with very few waters capable of offering such fish to anglers,
I'm sure most will agree it is wonderful for the area, as such it
really has to be one of the best years of our history, with several
reports of a 'beast' for the last 10 years or so and that's not forgetting
the fact they have been present in Lakemore for some 20 years it was
only a matter of time before we did a big fish.
With regards pics,
I myself donned waders to return the momentous fish to its home, the
pics are on the site, as a man who lives and breathes catfish, there
was no way that fish was going to be just returned without the correct
recovery, I had waited for years to see such a fish so in I went with
it, now I know it was matts wonderful catch but having said all that
it was my fish.
As a man who does
more for catfish conservation than most conservation members combined
it would have been nice to get more positive responses to such fish
instead of some of the comments I did hear. Some catfish anglers /
purists out there should open their eyes and see that their favourite
fish, the catfish, has become a fish not only respected by all manor
of anglers from pike anglers to the finest match anglers in the world,
but it has also caught the eye of many top carp anglers too, basically
because of constant input from the Catfish Conservation Group and
fisheries like mine the catfish is finally on the map, and with a
decent partnership between fisheries and cat anglers it will only
improve things for everyone.

Fat Cat
"Matt Yeates
from South Cheshire had a new lake record at 75lb 6oz"
"To date,
it looks like we now have in excess of 12 different 40lb+ cats, ranging
from 40lb to 52lb, with countless 25lb to 39lb fish; and that's just
in the Horseshoe alone, making it without doubt one of, if not, the
most prolific big cat water in the country!"
"At the rate
it's going, with the number of multiple catches of cats coming from
both Horseshoe and Longlake respectively, the next 12 months I think
could see the venue put on another level by producing various 50lb
fish"
Fine
Carp
"Along with
the cats, lets not forget that the carp are thriving, with more and
more 20lb+ fish coming out on a regular basis from both Horseshoe
and Longlake. So far this year, the Longlake has produced quite a
few carp to 25lb and the Horseshoe has given many PB's to anglers
with fish to just over 30lb!"
Spring
2008
"After a
cracking 2007 I am pleased to inform all my exsisting customers and
any future visitors that from March 1st 2008 the Horseshoe will be
available to day ticket every weekend. This is as well as mid-week
sessions of course.
Also please note that Longlake will only be available to day ticket
on a minimum 24hr basis over weekends. Day sessions are only now available
midweek"

"I am pleased
to announce we have been just been awarded a gold award for disabled
accessibility. The award was accreddited by the BDAA & Dreamstore"
"During 2007
I have been busy with the help of some of my bailiffs and representatives
from GHOF constructing a new pathway round the Longlake. The reason
for this was to bring the lake more in line with the Horseshoe and make
it much more accessible should we have a wet season like this one has
been"
"Just a couple
of things left to say, a big thanks to all my baillifs, they are without
the best around, just ask anyone who knows them, well nearly everyone,
with the exception of those who have been 'naughty', then maybe they
won't like them too much. thats life though"
"Plus a massive
thanks to all my customers, the students from Sparsholt college and
not forgetting a HUGE thanks to all the angling celebs who continually
help me to promote the fishery, please read the TESTIMONIALS"
"To make
your stay just that bit more comfortable, I hope these contact details
will be of use"
